Once with good friends, while sitting in Mcdonalds, we used to joke about our gay marriage and one mature man heard that, then came closer and tried to clear the situation what the fuck we were talking about. The fact that a gay couple can be insulted, threaten or beaten up by kissing each other or showing their love on streets shows that many russians hate gays, that is not the saddest thing about this. The worst is that this is socially accepted, and if a gay is beaten up, probably going to the police is just going to make it worse.

In some aspects Russians seem to be quite intolerant and medieval.

Medieval? Not!!! Russians are closer to dinozaur times. During WW2 when they came to my grand grand father house they drinked water from toilet they didnt know what is toilet. I could write here million examples how backword primitive they are. Now just go to some TDM server and you can see cheater every 5 minutes. Mostly Russians. i can understand that you live like that and dont want gays around you, but i wonder what should people do who live in russia and cant change the fact that theyre homosexual? should they leave russia only because people there think its wrong? what would you do if for example a close friend suddenly outs himself? its not like anyone can control it. id agree with anyone who says keep your sexuality to yourself but to me that applies to both straight and homosexuals, i just dont enjoy seeing couples making out in the middle of the city or something like that.

I am actually surprised by your personal opinion here Since you are young, uni student and have contact with the world outside Russia I thought you would be more open-minded. Many people in Spain thought the same way as you do, just it was 50 and 60 years ago. Same happens in most west european democracies.

I understand your tradition is not to fuck other men in the ass, hell it is mine as well. But I can not understand why such people should be beaten up. It is a matter of respect and democracy. If I a man loves another man, Who am I, or who are you to forbid such love? which harm does that love cause to other russians that gays can not express their love and feelings in public?

If a woman wants to stay home and take care of the kids because she wants or she finds it is part of her tradition, fine, nobody is going to force her to work. But if a woman wants to work, be independent and be treated equally as men are, who are you or the rest of russians to decide she can not?

Lets be clear Russians are selfish. Wanna proof? Just go for holidays to Greece or Turkey or Egypt when in hotel are Russians. And you will see. I went for holidays 2 years ago to Turkey to hotel nr 1 in Holiday check inn and in reception was a table where written "NO RUSSIANS HERE". They behave badly spreading food around behaving noisly and annoying everyone. Just ask ppl around who were in the hotel with russians, Skan plus for you to be patriot. Blaze, I wrote it in a first message. Nobody cares if you are gay. People do care if you show that. In public. With tongue and moaning. That's the question of social respect.
We already discussed with xavii disadvantage of possible disability to show feels in public. I honestly don't know what I would do if I couldn't just take girl I like, let's say somewhere on the party and kiss her in the corner while other can see. That's a strong point for legalisation.

We have nothing against gays, only about public braging about how gay they are. Why I'm not running around and scream I'm straight! I'm straight, horay! But I fear in a few decades that will be actual. Remember famous google search "why russian never smile". Because even smiling is an intime part of life. Not always ofc. But you'll rarely find smiling face on the street. Not because all unheappy, but because we are not open for a stranger. Couple showing their gay or lesbian love break not just russian social norms, but offend mental traditions. And that's considering as a treat. Especially by male subjects.

And no, if woman here wants to work like man - she works, nobody will care. But this woman will face problem of becoming more manlike. She will be forced to play in a men playfield and being ready to play on a same level. That affects character. Those 2 things dont fit together well. Im not sure how much of this you really mean to say like this or if you just enjoy playing the role of the 'bad russian' dont get me wrong but I think that acting and thinking in 'classes' or groups is really a bad thing. To say we are who we are and we enjoy us this way is an excuse of weak personalities cause they dont feel themselves to be strong enough. For sure there are some special traditions and everything in each country and community. Im also proud on beeing German and the stereotypes I hear but im not valuing myself on that. I keep questioning my origins and if its the right way to go. Building up borders wont help and just destabilise the general world we live in. Ive been talking and listening to alot ppl beeing directly or indirectly influenced by ww2 and nazi regime. Ive been reading letters of nazi generals and normal ppl. Personal private letters.
