You can also learn how to throw smokes and flashes from HattonGames (his old videos) or PureBlue (both on youtube).
Try playing death match and casual before playing competitive, as you'll get a low silver rank and you'll be stuck there for a long time.
If you had experience with cs1.6 it'll be much easier for you.
