csgolounge.com is also a good place to trade and bet your items on which team will win. there are guides on how to bet somwhere on the website. Be warned though, the people on this site are arrogant arseholes that believe their gun is worth double whatever yours is.

Not long ago there were snow globes at steam, each day you get 1 and they were sold for an average of 0.15$ each, I sold them and always bought for less than 0.13$ (mostly searched for less than 0.1$) and resold for around 0.17$.
Eventually got around 15$ which I used to buy games and some skins.
15$ from nothing, that's more than 10% of my salary!

You can win weapon skins or boxes at the end of every map (sometimes you won't win anything). But yeah, you can also buy them.
